How long should your working week be?

Employees in Denmark has some of the shortest working hours in the world, with an average of 37 hours per week. An average that also applies to medical professionals. Nevertheless, getting an even shorter working week, is one of the core issues of the Danish political scene right now.

They believe, that if the working week gets limited to 30 hours, it will give the Danes a better work-life balance and thus improve peoples’ life quality. Now new research may support their claim. A study, published in the Melbourne Institute Worker Paper series, shows that a 25 hour working week is the most beneficial, especially when it comes to workers age 40+. When working more than 3 days a week, this groups’ performance decreased as they became stressed and fatigue. So perhaps, we should consider working less, be more efficient and obtain a better work-life balance?
