Medicolink is a company with ambitions for the future of our world. We take global responsibility and have been supporting Doctors Without Borders with donations for years – and we will continue to do so in the future. Their humanitarian efforts help hundreds of thousands of people affected by natural disasters, epidemics, armed conflicts, or inaccessible healthcare. The healthcare professionals provide their expertise to everyone irrespective of race, gender, religion, or political affiliation.
About the organization
Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) was founded in France in 1971. Since then, the foundation has carried out countless interventions and healthcare programmes addressing the most urgent health needs of people in crisis.
Thousands of healthcare professionals, administrative staff are working in their programmes in about 69 countries worldwide. They provide comprehensive medical and humanitarian support, including community health educational programmes and trainings for the local staff. Furthermore, their work involves raising awareness of healthcare accessibility problems of patients – they push the local authorities and civil society organization to improve the access to healthcare services and develop the overall level of the healthcare sector.
Principles
The actions of the organization are guided by the principles of medical ethics and impartiality.
Medical ethics – MSF’s actions are first and foremost medical. They carry out their work in respect of medical ethics and treating their patients with dignity, respecting their autonomy, confidentiality and their right to informed consent.
Independence – The assistance offered in the countries is based on an independent assessment of people’s needs and it is based on the autonomous decision of the organization. That independence is protected by the organizations’ policy that allows only marginal portion of its funds to come from governments and intergovernmental organisations.
Impartiality and neutrality – The medical interventions are irrespective of race, gender, religion or political affiliation. MSF doesn’t take actions according to the demands of any governments or political parties.
Bearing witness – MSF strives to draw attention to extreme needs and unacceptable violence or treatment against individuals or groups, to the lack of medical service, to neglected crises or to inadequate or abused provision of aid. They speak out publicly to raise awareness to the problems and to find a remedy.
Accountability – MSF is committed to regularly evaluating the effects of its activities and assume the responsibility.
